  1. President’s Report – Bill Tarr

The focus was for a new football stadium/field and this target was not met.  This will continue to be the focus for the 2008 season.  Looking at other community facilities Vernon is in desperate need for a proper venue for community football in order for the sport to prosper and grow.  Polson Park is not a viable option.A Junior Varsity Football league is a possibility for 2008 and we will continue to keep communication open to ensure the growth of community football at this level. Kelowna is expecting 30% increase in numbers for the upcoming season and Vernon is setting this as a target.  More coaches will be needed to address this increase.  All in all VDMF had a great year.

     4.   Vice-President – Keith Ridd   Absent

     5.   Fundraising – Dave Strachan   Absent

6.      Equipment – Mark Montville

All equipment lost in the fire has been replaced.  Thank you to KISS FM for the free storage that was needed in the interim.  We have been unable to secure a new home for the equipment storage and the container at Polsen Park, generously donated, is not an option as there is no lights or heating.  Bill Tarr thanked Mark for and outstanding job as co-ordinator of equipment and for replacement after the devastating fire.

7.      Coaching Co-Ordinator – Ron Kirschner

More coaches will be needed in the 2008 season.  This is a very rewarding position.  There are coaching clinics available to provide instruction for those that are unsure of what is involved in this job.  You will certainly receive more than you give in this volunteer role.  All current coaches are expected to return for the 2008 season.

8.      Media – Jason Armstrong

No new items for agenda.

     9.   Player Recruitment – Jay Tomlinson     Absent

10.  Volunteer Recruiter – Dawn Roy

Great job done by all volunteers, involvement was strong for 2007.  We do have some VMF T-Shirts for sale.  Expectations are very hopeful for the upcoming season.

11.  Registration – Dave Anesley

148 player under 18 registered for 2007 season, 29 registered in the over 19 category.  Looking forward to higher numbers in new season.

    12.  Intel-Community Rep – Christie Anderson   Absent

    13.  Special Events – Ian Vietch    Absent

Super Bowl party will be held at Sneakers Bar.  Hope to have helmets for sale,

great prizes and fun hope to see you all there.

14.    Fields & Venue – Doug Cook

Contract for lining fields went very well in 2007.  Ref’s were all in place and season went very well.

15.    School Liason – Bill Nestor

Will continue to work with the high school coaches to have a smooth and  easy transition from community to varsity football for all players involved.  Jr. Varsity football is not a complimentary option for community football and VMF believes that this level of football is better off left at the community level with Senior Varsity Ball offered at the High School Level.

16.    Mexicana – Doug Cook

Nothing new at this time.  Volunteers will be needed for the May/08 long week-end if this venue is pursued and to ensure the success of it.

17.    New Business

Government funds made available to football are reflected by the number of people that sign up at the Annual General Meeting.  The numbers this year were disappointing and it was agreed that more information on reasons for attending AGM would be helpful in increasing these numbers.
